Reflect on how far you have come

8th July 2022

I am sure many of you are counting down the days until our learners leave so that you can crack on with preparing for next year. It never ceases to surprise me how many of those not working in education assume that the end of term means literally shutting the classroom or office door and having six weeks of freedom, if only that were true, I hear you cry.

It has been another challenging year working in schools and who would have expected us to have a new secretary of state for education? Our fourth of the academic year with one lasting a mere 35 hours.

It was only just over two weeks ago where I was sitting in Birmingham hearing Nadim Zahawi pledging his support to the white paper and schools across the country. After Michelle Donelan's short reign, James Cleverly will now champion the white paper. Watch this space colleagues for updates in the world of education, blink and you may miss it!

In the meantime, amongst all the political disarray, we will continue with business as usual, our mission in the trust is to continue doing what we do, working together to make schools better for children and leading schools where children thrive.

As you head into these last few days of the academic year, try and take some time to reflect on how far you have come in the last 11 months. We started the year with zoom meetings galore, covid restrictions in place, teaching from home at times and speaking with parents virtually. We have now come full circle and opened our doors to the communities we serve, held sports days, extra-curricular activities, trips, residentials and the infamous exams and assessments across the board.

Everyone is to be commended for the commitment you have given to our thousands of learners across the trust and the support you give daily to colleagues.

Together, as leaders, teachers, assistants, administrators, premises staff and governors, we have all made a positive impact!

Signing off on my last write for the newsletter for the academic year and wishing you all a wonderful break when it arrives.

Kathryn Krynicki, Director of Primary Education, Learning Partners
