Working together, serving a purpose

18th March 2022

The daffodils and magnolia buds are out! The onset of Spring has brought bluer skies, brighter days and colour back into our lives. Rather than hearing aggressive gusts of wind, the melodic sound of birds communicating takes precedence.

We are very fortunate that we are given the opportunity to appreciate this wonderful time of year. The people of Ukraine sadly aren't able to enjoy such moments currently and are working together with bravery to keep hold of the country they love, and no doubt when the conflict is over they will unite with force to rebuild their strong and vibrant community. They have called upon their European and world neighbours for resources and support, which has received a remarkable response. Working together to become stronger.

The changing of seasons reflects the turbulence that we can all experience in our lives but working as a community, receiving support and looking for ways forward with others helps us to regain strength.

Every year, birds, despite the turbulence of seasons remain constant. March to April is their busiest nesting time and witnessing this ritual where they work with nature to rear their young is a reminder of what we are doing as a Trust. Birds of different varieties are busy drawing upon numerous natural resources, using varying techniques to build communities and to ensure that their young have the best start in life.

This week, language students from George Abbot, Guildford County and Kings came together to watch performances by Onatti Theatre Company in French, German and Spanish. A great example of bringing staff and students together, drawing upon our internal and external sources to provide an engaging way to learn key vocabulary and to inspire future linguists.

Next week, representatives from our secondary and primary schools are joining forces to look at various HR systems and to eventually choose a system that will work best for our schools as a collective so that we can build our nest and install the reinforcements required to nurture and give our fledglings the best start in life.

Next month, the Trust has invited Dr Tanya Byron to speak to our staff, parents and carers about mental health in adolescents. We are lining our nest with the necessary elements to strengthen our Trust community enabling those within it to fly high and soar with freedom of choice.
