Resilience, commitment and determination

19th August 2022

Learning Partners are delighted with the A-level and BTEC results released on 18 August at Fullbrook, George Abbot and Guildford County and would like to congratulate all the students who have navigated these last two years with admirable resilience and determination.

The last two years has seen much disruption in education caused by the pandemic.  It has been particularly difficult for those students taking exams this year, having missed out on a previous exam season and much of their learning for these qualifications taking place remotely. At the outbreak of Covid-19, teachers and support staff had to alter their way of working in an unprecedented manner to accommodate the pandemic and to ensure that the students received as normal and as thorough education as was possible during that time.  Students’ lives were turned upside down, they had to become more self-disciplined and develop an independent learning style almost overnight.

Thankfully, although only recently, school life started to return to normality and this year’s cohort were able to work together face to face in the latter stages, sit their exams and participate in end of school celebrations.

All three schools have reported on the following impressive A-Level results;

Fullbrook School

98% pass rate

72% of students achieving an A*- C

52% of students achieving an A*- B

Jack Mayhew, CEO of Learning Partners said “We applaud every one of our students receiving their results today.  They should be immensely proud of themselves and of the resilience they have shown over the last two years.  It has not been easy, but they have done incredibly well, and I am sure that this experience will stand them in good stead for the exciting futures ahead of them. I would like to thank all the staff in the schools for their dedication and hard work to ensure that these results were realised and for the essential, caring pastoral support that is offered throughout this journey.  We are very proud to be leading schools where children thrive.”

Katie Moore, Principal of Fullbrook School said “I am thrilled for our Fullbrook 6 students, these results are testament to their hard work and dedication and to their families’ support and encouragement.  I wish them all the very best in their next steps and would like to remind them that they can be better than they ever thought they could be!”

Kate Carriett, Headteacher of George Abbot School said “The cohort of 2022 have been a delight to teach, we are all incredibly proud of their achievements – this is a very strong set of results.  The students have been an absolute pleasure to have at the sixth form and it has been a privilege to witness their development, we shall miss them very much.  We wish each and every one all the very best and know that they will move forward in their lives with strength and great resilience.”

Steve Smith, Headteacher of Guildford County School said “Today represents the end of one phase of each student's education and the opportunity to recognise and celebrate what they have achieved.  We are delighted to be able to congratulate the Class of 2022 for their many achievements and also to wish them well as they move on to the next phase of their lives with our full support and our very best wishes for the future.  I am hopeful that many will choose to become members of our ever-growing alumni community and that we will then be able to continue to watch their successes over the years to come.”
