Hitting the ground running

16th September 2022

Well, we have certainly hit the ground running this term! Whilst busy sitting in the traffic on my way to visit one of our schools this week, I realised that this was my 25th new school year start; don’t worry, I am not expecting the DfE to reward my long service by sending me a silver carriage clock! However, this has given me the chance to reflect on what has changed in education over those last 25 years and what has remained the same. I concluded that the one thing that has never changed is the desire to get out of bed every day in order to make a difference to the lives of young people.

As we pay our respects to the recent Queen Elizabeth II, a woman who devoted her life to others and served her country until her last days, we should be reminded that in education, we too are privileged to serve our communities whether it be as a school leader, teacher, support assistant, admin team member, governor, or volunteer. Our drive must always be to make a positive difference. Working in my role allows me the luxury of seeing how our schools support their learners and that each new school year brings renewed enthusiasm.

This year has certainly been no different. In fact, there has been a relief that schools can move forwards at a faster pace with school improvement plans unlike the last two years when we have been hampered by additional operational measures due to the pandemic.

The Learning Partners school improvement team have also started the year with great enthusiasm and a will to ‘serve’ our schools. This year we have extended our CPLD offer significantly for our trust schools and are working hard to establish more professional learning networks for staff.

All dates for CPLD are on the calendar which you can subscribe to. We have included details of just a few of the many sessions in the School Improvement section below but do look out for the full brochure which will be landing in your staff rooms shortly. We will also be sending out digital copies.

We are pleased to share that Liv Wernick has also joined the team and is leading on Inclusion across the schools. This is an area of education which has certainly changed over the last 25 years and is now top and forefront of our schools. Liv’s areas of focus include; SEND, safeguarding and equality and diversity.

Wishing you all a great term ahead as you continue your own journeys of service and devotion to the learners in our school communities.

Kathryn Krynicki, Director of Education, Learning Partners
